This stately mediterranean style home is designed with comfortable contemporary interiors. The hillside home has striking western views overlooking the town of San Miguel, the lake, distant countryside, and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range, fifty miles away.
The house is designed for comfortable indoor/outdoor living in the semi-arid and temperate climate of central Mexico. Stunning evening sunsets are visible from the upstairs terrace - a large roofed area used for dining and viewing with two relaxing outdoor sitting areas and a fireplace. The lower terrace Includes a 60-foot solar-heated lap pool within a large mature garden of bougainvillea, lemon, orange and lime trees, hibiscus, tropical plants, and cypress trees. It also contains a hot tub, an extensive pergola, and a comfortable sitting area centered around a cantera fire table. A third adjacent terrace provides the setting for lounge chairs and a seating area sheltered by a large canopy of climbing white roses. The pool and garden provide privacy from the separate guesthouse with its own entrance..
The guesthouse is comprised of 2 ensuite bedrooms and 2 baths, a living room/dining area, kitchen, and private terrace with commanding views overlooking the town. The main house, guesthouse and gardens are enclosed by high walls for privacy.
The First floor master bedroom suite has direct access to the main terrace and includes a private study and second bathroom. The luxuriously appointed over-sized Master Bath contains large carved marble soaking tub surrounded by a private garden and fountain.
The indoor dining room and living room-with-balcony also overlook the views. The large modern kitchen-with-terrace and the adjacent sunroom-with-terrace provide additional spaces for relaxation and quiet.
The house is a short 12 minute downhill walk to the main town square and an easy taxi ride back for those who prefer to avoid the more strenuous return. The famous Botanical Garden and nearby canyon are a flat 10 minute walk from the house where guided walking tours about the birds, plants, and San Miguel history are available.

It was chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage location and its' centuries-old cathedrals, colonial mansions, parks, and cobblestone streets have been preserved. There's good reason for Conde Nast Travel magazine to have voted San Miguel their favorite city in the world to visit over the past several years. It is filled with a rich variety of restaurants, galleries, parks, markets, and the daily life of a Mexican community. It is a cultural and art center with a full array of concerts, plays, domestic and foreign films, daily lectures on an infinite variety of subjects at the Biblioteca, a Chamber Music Festival, The San Miguel Writer's and Literary Conference, Documentary Film Series, and Jazz Festival.
San Miguel also offers many classes and workshops in dozens of subjects for the short-term visitor - conversational Spanish, Mexican cooking classes, painting, writing, photography, sculpture, yoga. More adventurous day trips include, historical walking tours, horseback riding, archeological ruins, kayaking, ultra-light flights, and donkey, bicycle, and ATV trips. Interesting day trips to Delores Hidalgo, a center for Tella Vera ceramics, and Guanajato, an historic university town, are easily arranged via local bus service or private shuttle.

To further clarify, the Main House together with the Guest House is available for reciprocal exchanges only, not for Guest Points.
The Guest House alone, however, is available for Guest Points only.
The Guest House is separated from the main terrace by a gate and privacy planting and when exchanged alone for Guest Points, without the main house included, does not include access to the main terrace that adjoins the Main House where the lap pool, hot tub, pergolas, outdoor seating areas with fire tables or fireplaces, etc. are located.
The Guest House has its own private entrance accessed directly from the street.
When the Guest House alone is exchanged for Guest Points, the Main House may also be simultaneously occupied by the owners (Don and Diana) who are happy to host the guests to help ensure that their stay is an enjoyable one.
Due to safety issues (unfenced swimming pool, level changes, etc.) and vulnerability of the interiors (white couches, white carpets, fragile sculptures, textiles, etc.) the house is not suitable for small children.
