Lo que te va a encantar en esta casa
We live in Staunton, a wonderful small town just minutes from the surrounding mountains. We also have a cottage in the nearby National Forest. The Staunton house is a renovated Craftsman built in the 1930s and a little over 2,000 square feet. It is located in the Gospel Hill Historic District. Everything you need (restaurants, groceries, theaters, shops, the local YMCA etc) is within walking distance of the house.
It is a couple blocks from historic downtown Staunton, Virginia, a gem of a small city in the Shenandoah Valley. The town is about two hours drive from Washington DC (longer if you take the train).
Completely renovated with comfortable rooms and large front and back porches located on a dead end street. It has winter views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains where we like to hike, swim and mountain bike.
The Staunton house is available June-August, but the cottage (built for four) is available year-round.

Lo que te va a encantar del barrio
Our house is on a dead end street in the Gospel Hill Historic District. It is surrounded by interesting architecture, everything from Craftsmen Bungalows, to Greek Revival mansions, to Victorians (both big and small). It is walking distance to a lively downtown with some regionally renowned restaurants like "the Shack" and Zynodoa.
The music available in the summer is a real treat. Everything from a classical chamber music festival (across the street at Mary Baldwin College) to the weekly Blue Grass, Jazz and Gospel music in Gypsy Hill Park that is free to the community. The American Shakespeare Center is first rate and housed in a reproduction of the BlackfriarTheatre. The Woodrow Wilson Museum and Presidential Library are two blocks away.
The local parks are super--with pools, skate parks, frisbee golf and even a municipal golf course. We particularly like to hike and mountain bike (and berry pick) at nearby Montgomery Hall Park and Betsy Bell Park.
Our cottage (40 minutes away) is on an isolated road a 1/4 mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Jefferson National Forest. We think of this as a place where we are forced to "unplug." No cell service (there is a land line), no computers and no television.
