NOTE: I do not do GuestPoint exchanges, only reciprocal exchanges.
This classic California/Mediterranean style home was built in 1938 and exemplifies the indoor/outdoor lifestyle of Southern California. There are 2 bedrooms (with comfy Queen-size beds), 2 full baths (1 vintage with tub + walk-in shower and 1 recently-renovated with walk-in shower), fast 5G Spectrum broadband connection, wireless access throughout the house and garden, and all the usual domestic appliances and amenities. The house was renovated in 2017 with an all-new kitchen, new bathroom, and new outdoor deck facing the Pacific Ocean, which is just a few blocks away. There are views from all the windows--the entire house is very light and bright.
PLEASE NOTE: the house comfortably sleeps only 3 or a maximum of 4 people. Larger families or groups will not be comfortable, and you should look elsewhere for an exchange.
ALSO: Families looking for a summer house exchange should look elsewhere--I am not an appropriate partner. I do not have children, and generally do not travel during the summer.
The 1/3 acre lot is on 2 levels, with a walled tropical garden of mature fruit trees (Meyer lemons, lime, oranges, tangelos, fig), many palms, birds of paradise, and colorful bougainvillea. A deck off the master bedroom and office is a great place to sit and enjoy the garden and ocean view, as is the west-facing deck off the kitchen; a fountain in the patio below offers water sounds during the day. An east-facing patio is pleasant to sit and enjoy the garden and distant forested views, and there is a table seating four in the east garden. A large in-ground Jacuzzi/hot tub is located on the west side of the house.
Car exchange could include a 2022 Honda Civic with GPS if you had a reciprocal car to exchange.
From all windows on the west side, you can see the ocean and sunsets through the surrounding Torrey Pine trees and eucalyptus, making it very private and peaceful place. We are about 4 blocks from the popular white-sand Del Mar beach (surfing, boogie boarding, sunbathing, swimming) as well as the center of the village of Del Mar (specialty shops, restaurants, etc.).
Del Mar is considered a "jewel" of California coastal towns--revered by surfers as well as vacationers who like to come for the scenery, the racing season at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Racetrack (July to September, and November), the beach, and year-round great weather. I love it and wouldn’t live anywhere else, although I also love to travel and experience other places...

Was Sie im Nachbarschafts-Viertel lieben werden
Del Mar is a small (4,500 residents) California coastal village about 20 miles north of the metropolitan city of San Diego. We are a few blocks from the spectacular white-sand Del Mar Beach, and a mile from the historic Del Mar Racetrack ("where the surf meets the turf," thoroughbred racing ) and Torrey Pines State Park, exceptional for hiking and beaches. You can even take a hot-air balloon ride - they depart from a field a few miles from our house.
There is a small retail complex called Del Mar Plaza (www.delmarplaza.com ) a few blocks away, with ocean-view restaurants, boutiques, and shops. The town of Del Mar has many amenities and services and is very walkable. There is a wonderful community Farmer's Market every Saturday from 1-4, located about 6 blocks away. The famous beach resort of La Jolla is 11 miles south along the coastal road. The University of California San Diego, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, La Jolla Playhouse, Birch Aquarium, and other cultural destinations are also nearby.
Our neighborhood is woodsy and very quiet - the area is considered among the most desirable parts of town in which to live. Del Mar is known for its small-town hospitality, charm, and the gorgeous coastline and surfing/bathing beaches. It is one of the most exclusive beach communities of Southern California.
If you're a golfer, San Diego has many renowned golf courses, including the famous Torrey Pines course, which is just a short drive away. In fact, San Diego has more outstanding golf courses than many places in the world. (You'd need to bring your own clubs, or rent them; we are not golfers.)
You can easily drive to attractions like SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, San Diego Zoo, or Wild Animal Park. Drive a bit further up into the mountains and you might even find snow in the winter (while at the same time, you can still go to the beach down at the coast!). About 2 hours' drive east is Borrego Springs, part of the California High Desert--an amazing sight to see, especially in spring with the wildflowers.
For surfers, Del Mar and the string of small towns along this coast (La Jolla [Windansea made famous by Tom Wolfe], Solana Beach, Cardiff, Leucadia, Carlsbad) are Nirvana. Just a few blocks away from our house, there are exceptional white sand beaches, an oceanside park and playground for kids, and places to rent beach equipment, surfboards, or bikes.
