Was Sie an dieser Unterkunft lieben werden

**Full for this summer now. Seeking possible options for a week in September** A short drive from the stunning Gower peninsula (Wales), the house looks out on the sweep of Mumbles Bay, over to Exmoor and North Devon on a clear day. Attractive sunny 1920s semi-detached house, 3 bedrooms, in Sketty, 3 miles west of Swansea city centre, on a quiet street. Spacious kitchen/diner opens onto decking terrace with sea views. Patio at rear, also with sea views. Comfortable lounge with bay window, log burner and tv. Home office desk in corner of kitchen/diner, wi-fi throughout the house.

Upstairs one double bedroom with double bed and bay window to sea. Bedroom 2 is double sized, with single bed, desk and sea views. Bedroom 3 has single bed and views over lawned garden. Bathroom upstairs with bath, shower, toilet; additional toilet on ground floor. The house is light, with central heating, high ceilings and large windows. The floor downstairs is all wooden.

The house is peaceful, with all you need for a comfortable life – dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge freezer, external washing line and clothes dryer in the garage. Enjoy the books, board games, maps, walking books and guidebooks, - ample cookery books to try your hand at new recipes - plus a sewing machine. There is ample free on street parking in front of the house.

Additional information. There are 10 steps up to the house front door and further ones to the patio at the back, so unfortunately this would not be accessible for someone with mobility problems. There is a garden with lawn, but it is on a slope, and we don’t have child gates, so this isn’t suitable for young children. I don’t have pets as a family member has allergies, so sorry, no pets welcome.

Was Sie im Nachbarschafts-Viertel lieben werden

You may think you know UK, but come and discover Wales, our language, culture and beautiful scenery. Perfect for people who love the active outdoor life.

The house has amazing views of the sweep of Swansea Bay to Mumbles Head and Lighthouse and big skies. In summer the swifts fly overhead. The street is quiet with friendly neighbours. It is a short walk (10 minutes) to Sketty, with cafes, Michelin-recommended restaurant, supermarkets, delicatessen and takeaways, florist, hairdressers, pub and 250 acre Singleton Park (formerly part of Singleton Abbey), with botanic garden, lily pond and boating lake. Swansea Bay and beach is 10 minutes drive. The attractive village of Mumbles boasts Norman castle, cafes, independent shops, skate park and restaurants using the best of Gower’s seafood and produce (4 miles away, or a brief walk along the promenade.) Caswell and Langland blue flag beaches are in easy reach (c 20 minutes drive), and the glorious footpaths and beaches of Rhosili, Llangennith, Port Eynon, Oxwich, Three Cliffs around 30-40 minutes. There are shipwrecks, Neolithic burial chambers, tales of smugglers and you might even spot some seals.

Swansea is Wales’s second city, a green hub with good transport links, a redeveloped marina and waterfront area and beautiful parks, award-winning indoor market, cinemas and theatres, some excellent restaurants and two universities. Gower was UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and awarded International Dark Sky status in 2025. The 860-mile Wales Coast Path runs through Swansea and around all the Gower Peninsula past Norman castles, prehistoric monuments, Celtic churches, scenic pubs and picnic spots. The beaches are perfect for wild swimming, watching the waves from a café with a cake or wine in hand, or, more energetic, for world class or first attempts at surfing, stand up paddle boards and sailing. There are several scenic golf courses; you can even have a sauna on the beach.

Swansea LC2 leisure centre – Wales’s largest - offers wave machine, lazy river, Masterblaster water slides and indoor surf machine. Or you might try rock climbing, horse-riding, fishing, and our museums (National Waterfront Museum) and art galleries (Glyn Vivian). Swansea is part of the National Cycle Network, (routes 4 and 43) and the Celtic Trail West. (You can hire paddle boards or bikes locally, and could keep them in the garage.) Mountain bikers will relish the all-weather trails in Afan Forest Park. Bird watchers will enjoy 450-acre Llanelli Wetland Centre and RSPB Newport Wetlands. Visit the awe-inspiring Dan-yr-Ogof Caves and 16km cave system, plus Dinosaur Park and Shire Horse Centre; or take the miners' lift 300-foot underground in a real coal mine, the Big Pit, to learn more of Wales’s industrial past. There are festivals through the year including Gower Folk Festival, Wales Airshow, Ironman and the classical music Gower Festival.

Uplands (20 minutes walk or regular bus), home of Dylan Thomas birthplace, has lively bars, restaurants, historic 13 acre Cwmdonkin Park, and a monthly Saturday artisanal street market. Swansea University, Taliesin Arts Centre (films and theatre), Wales National Pool and sports centre, Singleton Hospital are all 20 minutes walk (8 minutes drive) away.

Daytrips: Cardiff, Wales’s capital (an hour by train or car along the M4) and also the nearest airport; Bristol (1h30 by train or car); Bristol airport (2 h); Tenby (1h30 by train)
Bath (2h20 by train), Birmingham (3h by train), Oxford (3h30 by train), London (3 h by train).

By car: Laugharne and Dylan Thomas’s boathouse (1 h); coastal Pembrokeshire and St Davids, the city of Wales’s patron saint/cathedral (1h30); hill walks in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park/Brecon Beacons and Dark Sky Area (1 hr)

Transport would be easier with a car though there are regular buses to Swansea city centre (bus stop is 3 minutes away) and the Gower (from Sketty), and trains and National Express long distance coaches from the city centre. There are direct trains to Cardiff, Bristol, London, Pembroke Dock, Shrewsbury and Manchester.
