Was Sie an dieser Unterkunft lieben werden
Our treasured secluded house is in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and just a short stroll from the stunning Mawddach Estuary. The property dates to 1800s and is actually made up of two separate houses (the “main” house and the “kids” house), surrounded by a wonderful wild garden.
The main house groundfloor has a lovely double height living space with a large wood-fired stove. There is also a projector and screen to enable you to watch movies (from your laptop etc). Kitchen has all modern amenities along with our trusted AGA and a table that sits 8 easily. There is also a family bathroom and a second toilet. First floor has the main bedroom with a large double bed and a large window onto the garden. Second bedroom has two single beds which can be zip-linked into a large double bed.
The annex has a double height living space with its own wood-fired stove, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a double bedroom downstairs and an open mezzanine with two double bedrooms on the first floor.
There is a large table with chairs in the garden and a large trampoline (use strictly at your own risk). We also have a brick charcoal BBQ constructed in the garden. Guests may also negotiate the use of 4 mountain bikes.

Was Sie im Nachbarschafts-Viertel lieben werden
The house sits behind a hill, a short stroll from the scenic Mawddach Estuary. There is a cycle path along the estuary which takes you to Fairbourne, through the iconic bridge and onto Barmouth (20min) with its lively restaurants, caffes, quirky shops and a wonderful beach. Going other way, you reach the George, a characterful local gastropub (15min) and the town of Dollgelau (25min). Behind the house, towering above the estuary, sits Cadar Idris with the beautiful Cregennen lakes just below. There is enough walks to keep you going for weeks if you like hiking.
The house is reached via a private road and through a local campsite, which also has a small shop and serves coffees and croissants in the morning. There are large shops in Dollgelau and local farm shops in villages nearby. We recommend DD's for bread and sandwiches (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ehJ6JwL9iCWuZgPm6), Roberts Bros butchers across the road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/oNx4jKCQeYA9DJA3A) and our Hendre Hall local farm shop (the drive itself is breathtakingly beautiful! https://www.hendrehall.co.uk/).
There is also a range of restaurants around to enjoy:
- George III mentioned above (https://georgethethird.pub/)
- Mawddach pizza for a genuine sourdough pizza in a spectacular setting (ask for a table upstairs next to the large window! https://www.mawddach.com)
- Penmaenuchaf Hall for fine dinning (http://penmaenuchaf.co.uk/)
- Salt Marsch Kitchen in Twyn (a bit further away but well worth the trip! https://saltmarsh.kitchen/)
- Barmouth has a wide range of great places to eat and drink. Our favourites include Isis Pizzeria for a quick lunch (plenty of other things than pizzas too), Fanny Talbot for a finer meal (https://www.thefannytalbotgastropub.co.uk/), Foxglove for vegan fine dinning (http://www.foxglovebarmouth.co.uk/) and many more.
All in all, plenty to explore :)

Zusätzliche Informationen
Both houses are strictly no smoking please.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but no cats please, really sorry about this but we are allergic.
There is private parking space for 3 cars. Access is on a private road via Graig Wen campsite. The road is steep but suitable for regular cars. Only in winter months if there is a lot of wet leaves and/or ice you may find it difficulty to drive up. This is rare but please reach out if in doubt about your car access.
There is no TV but we have a 100" projector screen along with a projector that you can connect to a USB-C or an HDMI cable. The projector is not permanently setup - you have to set it up yourself on the coffee table and then tidy up. This not a proper "cinema" setup, there are no surround speakers or anything like that (the projector has in-build speaker which we use) but it can be wonderful to watch movies.
There are also 2 Sonos speakers which are connected to an active Spotify account so you can play music in the kitchen and the living room if you wish.
We kindly ask you to leave the house tidy but we also ask the cleaners to come and do a proper clean after each visit. There is a cleaning fee of £100 per stay + linen charge (ca £15/double bed + towels). We charge you exactly what the cleaners charge us.
Both houses run 100% on electricity and wood-fired stoves for heating. Heaters are all storage - they charge up at night and give heat away slowly in the day.
You can get the houses to be cosy and warm but do not expect a sauna, rather expect to be wearing a sweater in the winter months and the temperature to be more refreshing when you wake up. There is an additional portable heater for those who need extra warm bedrooms.
We stock up on firewood for the winter but sometimes run out in spring. We usually re-order when we are there but depending on how the visits are scheduled, you may end up asking us for more firewood. We are always happy to re-order for you (at no cost to you). But this means 1m3 then gets dumped in front of the house and you need to carry the logs over to the house/storage (takes a good 1h using the wheelbarrow).
The use of our bicycles by separate negotiations - please reach out.
Please also note that we usually clear away the outside dining table in the winter months - the odd storm can easily carry it away!
