Was Sie an dieser Unterkunft lieben werden
Our home was a cottage dating back to the early 1900s, which we renovated and added a second story (parents’ retreat) giving us views across to the city.
There are 3 bedrooms, one with a king and the others with queen size beds plus a study, spacious open living area including dining area (for 6-8 people), a open lounge and kitchen, leading to a verandah with dining furniture, surrounded by a native Australian garden which attracts a great amount of birdlife. There is also a barbeque.
Modern stained glass designed windows in the living area add a splash of colour.
The kitchen is well equipped and the downstairs bathroom has bath and shower, indoor laundry and a separate toilet.
Upstairs is a spacious master bedroom with queen size bed, a walk-in wardrobe. French doors lead onto the deck with views across to the city. There is also a small lounge area with additional TV, as well as the second bathroom with shower and toilet.
Downstairs are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, built in wardrobes, fans and a third room used as a study. A second small sitting room with piano and bookshelves, provides a quiet alternative relaxation space.
The home has air-conditioning for the downstairs living area, with a separate air con in the upstairs master bedroom area.
The large smart-TV downstairs has Netflix and the local Stan service.
Our neighbourhood is part of the inner-west of Sydney, which means that we are just on the edge of the CBD.
The area is well served by public transport including both bus and light-rail (tram) into the city. It can take 15 minutes off-peak, up to 30 minutes peak-time to travel to Circular Quay and the central Sydney Harbour area.
Paling Street is very quiet, mostly used by residents. A mixture of young families and older folk live here and our next-door neighbours are very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of unrestricted street parking.
There is a small shopping area just one block’s walk away, including supermarket, coffee shop, beauty and massage shop, newsagent and hairdresser.
Three things we love about our home:
- Lots of natural light, including well located skylights
- Nice garden and space to relax, with BBQ, outside all year round
- Our leafy suburb, which is close enough to get to the city quickly, but far enough away to feel laid back.
Things close by:
Just a short walk or few bus stops away in different directions there are more shops, cafes, pubs, supermarkets and an excellent cinema.
Sydney is known for its multicultural heritage and this can be found in the broad number of restaurants and cuisines that can be found close by. Italian, Greek, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Indian are just some of the styles you will find near us.
There are two large parks with plenty of children’s play equipment within two blocks. As well there is a large foreshore park that allows you to explore some of our maritime heritage on foot or by bike.
We have two bikes with helmets available for your use.

Was Sie im Nachbarschafts-Viertel lieben werden
We have lived here for over 30 years and have seen the area go from a working class Italian community area to a popular place for younger families. The arrival of light rail in addition to the handy bus to the city has transformed the area as a trip into the centre can take just 20 minutes in non peak periods.
There is a local grocery store a block away and we are blessed with a nearby cafe and larger supermarket in a short walking distance. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby in neighbouring suburbs Annandale and Leichhardt and more just a few bus stops away. New dining precinct also recently opened just two tram stops away, called the Tramsheds and it features restaurants and a supermarket as well.
If you are interested in walking or cycling there are several large parks with kiddy equipment just 5 minutes walk away. There is also a beautiful larger park on the water approximately 15 minutes walk away with views to harbour. Our neighbours are friendly and our street is quiet with little traffic. The nearby Bay Run is wonderful for a stroll, run or cycling along the dedicated cycling path.
