Situated in central Pennsylvania our home is a tranquil place. Sitting on the deck overlooking the backyard you'll feel like you are among the trees and can watch the squirrels and all kinds of birds and small animals like deer, turkey and foxes. We have 2 small raised garden boxes and in season guests are welcome to partake of it. Our home is multi level and could be multifamily living. The lowest level was built to accomodate a wheelchair and has ramp access from the driveway. There is a bedroom with queen sized bed, a kitchenette with sink and cabinets, a microwave and hot plate, refrigerator and small washer and dryer along with a low entry shower in the bathroom. The large open space living on this level has a flat screen TV and a gas log fireplace and a fold flat full size futon that doubles as a couch. The main floor has a master bedroom with queen size bed with a full bath, Bain Ultra air jet tub for soaking and a separate corner shower. We love to host and cook for a crowd and our newly renovated kitchen with granite countertops has a large pantry cupboard, central prepping island with 2 stools and a double door refrigerator. The electric 5 burner stove and vented range hood and dishwasher are all new within the last year. The living room with a gas log fireplace and dining room is large and open with an expandable dining table that can seat 8-10 and is right off the kitchen. It opens to the deck overlooking the yard through screened double french doors. There is a large flat screen TV and spinet piano in a small sitting area looking out over the lower and front yard. There is a half bath with washer and dryer down the hall on this level.
The upstairs has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds. One bedroom has a bathroom with a shower and the other bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and a small desk.
The house sits on a quiet acre lot partially wooded with neighboring houses on very large lots so it feels very open and secluded. You will love the quiet and at night the stars come out in force with no street lights invading the night sky.

We live in a serene part of central Pennsylvania right in the Allegheny Mountains in an area called the Buffalo Valley. Settled by mostly German immigrants at the end of the 18th century you can still feel the influence with many local butcher shops and Farmers Markets. The ChristKindl Market in the nearby town of Mifflinburg at Christmas is beautiful and full of German traditional crafts, food and drink We live about 1 hour north of the capitol of Harrisburg on the Susquehanna River and Lewisburg is on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Both rivers are quietly famous for fishing, with small mouth bass, river catfish and muskie as well as walleye. Historic Gettysburg just south of Harrisburg is a short day trip from the house. The major cities of New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC are all within 3 hours and our home could be a nice base to travel there as well. North and a little west of us you can connect with the Mid State hiking trail that passes through multiple State Parks. There is awesome gravel bike riding nearby as well the famous unPAved Gravel race that starts a few miles away every October. Hunters, bird watchers and hikers have access to thousands of acres of State Game lands nearby. An 11 mile Rail Trail connects Lewisburg to Mifflinburg and can be accessed from the house by bike. The Rusty Rail Tavern a brewpub, is right along this trail and is a converted historic buggy and carriage manufacturing plant. Penn State football is only an hour away and this is often a stopping or gathering place during game days on Saturdays in the fall. The Penns Creek Rail Trail starts in the nearby town of Jersey Shore (not New Jersey shore!) and goes north about 50 miles to the town of Ansonia. We are on a central flyway for migrating birds and have witnessed thousands of snow geese and trumpet swans landing in nearby cornfields during the early fall on their way south to the Chesapeake Bay. It is quite a sight!
There is a vibrant Amish and Mennonite community all around us and acres of corn, soybeans and alfalfa. You'll often see their buggies hitched to posts at the local banks or carrying families to and from church or to market which is held every Wednesday all year round in Lewisburg. The predominance of hardwoods on the nearby mountains make Autumn particularly beautiful as the hills and valleys light up with yellows, reds and oranges from the poplar, maple and oak mixed in with evergreen hemlocks . Small streams and brooks called "runs" are all through these mountains and some hold native populations of brook and brown trout as well as stocked rainbows in the larger streams. In spring during trout season these hills are dense with blooming mountain laurel in pinks and white and nearby Penn's Creek has some top notch fly fishing with catch and release and Class A rated sections. There are local outfitters and fly shops nearby and they can put you on some fine fishing. The famous Juniata Creek is under 2 hours away and other limestone fishing creeks are close as well.
The town of Lewisburg and its central thoroughfare, Market St, is vibrant and bustling with little stores, the historic Lewisburg Hotel and Tavern, restaurants and coffee shops and a remodeled Art Deco movie theatre. Bucknell College is one mile away from the house near the downtown and on game day weekends the town is hopping with visitors. The college gives the town a vibrancy and there are always lectures, art galleries and events scheduled year round and open to the public. A Barnes and Noble bookstore on Market street is a nice place to grab a Starbucks and sit and read a good book or people watch. The Little League World series takes place just up the road in the town of WIlliamsport every fall and Little Leaguers and their families come from all over the world to compete.
