Our home is a spacious Edwardian detached house in a quiet residential area of Maidenhead, Berkshire. It is full of original features and has a bright, airy feel. It is tastefully decorated (we think :), and the large, bright kitchen overlooks a compact and well curated garden with BBQ and garden sofas/chairs. Ceiling to floor bi-fold doors and large sliding windows bring the garden right inside on a sunny day. Off the kitchen is a cosy snug with a large window overlooking the garden, and a utility room. There is also a lounge, reading room/study, shower and toilet, and a wide, tiled hallway. Upstairs are three double bedrooms and a large bathroom. We welcome guests over 12 years old as we have some luxury and vintage furniture and fittings which not suitable for smaller children or pets.
We have two bicycles, two kayaks, racks and a paddleboard which guests are welcome to use.

Maidenhead is both in a beautiful part of the country, and the perfect location for exploring London, the west, north and south. Windsor is very close-by, as are Henley-on-Thames and Marlow, two delightful Thames towns steeped in history. Maidenhead is on the tube (Elizabeth line) so we can be in central London in 40 minutes by train (Tottenham Court Road) or by car. We often travel up to London to meet friends and family and enjoy the theatre, sport, galleries, restaurants, markets etc. We are near the M4 and not far from Windsor and the historical river towns of Marlow and Henley etc. We are also close to the Thames where we paddleboard and kayak in summer (we own both together with racks).
Just a short 10 minute drive and you are in the middle of the countryside. Maidenhead is also close to the Chilterns with its fabulous countryside, national trust properties and excellent walking. There are a number of Michelin three-star restaurants within Uber distance of our home, plus a number of good quality public golf courses a short drive away. We are near Junction 8/9 on the M4, for example which heads east into London and west to Bath, Wales, Devon and Cornwall. It is also close to the M40 which heads north towards the Midlands, Lake District and beyond. The south coast is only a two-hour drive.

We have family in Australia - in Sydney and northern New South Wales - and now that we're retired we'd like to travel there every year. Reciprocal home exchange would be best and we are very flexible and aren't restricted by school holidays or pets or working schedules.
It would also be good to do some shorter exchanges ( 1 week) here in the UK - we are keen walkers so some locations such as Yorkshire, Snowdonia, Peak District, Devon and Cornwall would be of interest.
