The house is colorful and comfortable. I call it beach bohemian. It has three floors and can be split into two separate units. Three bedrooms, living/kitchen area and a large covered deck with a gorgeous sunset view are on floors two and three and a large studio on the ground floor - which is were I live. The units share the swimming pool and the gas BBQ but both have their own outdoor living space. The view can only be described as spectacular. Nearly 180 degrees of ocean. At night there is just one light visible within 25 kilometers. There is a circular gravel driveway, a fish large pond, and an orchard full of tropical fruit and spices. And 25 acres of jungle. Except for the jungle creatures wandering through it is very private. The sound of the waves is constant although we are 340 feet above sea level.

Guapil Estates is a very special place. Being protected means you have an opportunity to see, hear and smell a variety of critters. We have several waterfalls - one even has some pre-columbian petroglyphs!! The community is about 400 acres of nature reserve surrounded by another 900 acres of reserve. There are 13-14 houses. Most are 2nd homes and I am often the only owner in residence. The little surfer village of Dominical is about 4 kilometers to the south. In Dominical there is a gas station, one larger market, several boutique markets, pharmacy/clinic, 2 spas, and lots of restaurants. Two larger communities are 30 km to the north and to the south. Playa Guapil is just below the house and stretches for kilometers in both directions. It is rare to see more than a few people in either direction. Please note - We are in the jungle and 4 wheel drive is required! Our road is good and regraded twice a year but traction can be limited when it is very dry and when it is POURING down rain.
The map is deceiving - there are no addresses in Costa Rica - certainly not in the jungle - so the Homeaway software would only accept the local name "Guapil Beach". The house is above the beach on the inland side of the road shown on the map. You wouldn't walk to the beach unless you are a veteran hiker but you certainly may if you want to. It is up and down. I regularly walk almost to sea level and back.
