Melody and her family spent their summer vacation this year in Southport, NC soaking up the waves, fishing, and stunning sunsets. The family found traditional accommodation options were too expensive, but by traveling with HomeExchange they were able to have the trip of their dreams and make memories with their kids. Melody answered a few of our questions about her June 2020 trip to the coast.
What was it that attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
We wanted to visit the North Carolina coast for a family vacation. The history and beaches in the area drew us there. AirBnb was going to be too expensive, so we signed up for HomeExchange! We are so glad we did!
Tell us about your arrival.
When we first contacted our host, she sent us many ideas of her favorite places to see, beaches to go to, and good fishing spots! When we arrived, we were greeted by a clean and inviting, beautiful home! She even had contacted us in advance and asked if we had food allergies. Then, upon arriving, there was a wonderful meal in the fridge, ready for us to enjoy!
What did you see or do during your exchange?
While in Southport, NC, we enjoyed kayaking from the home, beautiful sunsets from the back deck, fishing locally, the beach, historic Southport with great seafood restaurants, and downtown Wilmington, NC, where we toured the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship!
What is your favorite memory from your exchange?
We most enjoyed our time at Caswell Beach, battling the waves!
What tips and tricks would you give to other HomeExchange guests?
Enjoy saving money while experiencing new places! Traveling shouldn't cost a fortune!
How would you describe HomeExchange to your family and friends?
We love HomeExchange, because it is an affordable way to travel, and we can stay in homes that we normally wouldn't pay for!
