My HomeExchange Story: "The best thing about this exchange was the feeling of being home abroad."
In early 2022, Robin, her partner, and some friends traveled to Vélez-Malaga in Málaga, Spain for her sixth home exchange. She was kind enough to share her experience home swapping and exploring her local surroundings with us.
Discover HomeExchangeWhat did you appreciate most about the home you stayed in?
The most amazing part was the roof terrace. As the house was tucked away in a quiet but important street (Cervantes lived down that road hundreds of years ago), it was great to have such a private and comfortable space. There was sun all day, and the little kitchen next to it made it possible for us to enjoy many meals there morning, afternoon, and evening.
What did you appreciate most about your exchange partner?
Our hosts were very good at communicating and made sure that everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival. They left us some goodies to enjoy, and put their bikes out and made sure they were ready for us to enjoy.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
The best thing about this exchange was the feeling of being home abroad. While Malaga is very big and touristy, this little town was so quaint and local. It was truly a feeling of pure relaxation. During those days, we spent most of our time exploring the views, reading books on the roof terrace during siesta hours, eating at the local café’s and restaurants, and crawling back into our comfy beds at the end of a long day.
