My HomeExchange Story: "It's a great way for us to save and still travel the world."
Nicholas and his partner took a trip to St. Croix in the Virgin Islands in the fall of 2021, where they got to discover the beauty of the Caribbean island. He was kind enough to share his experience with HomeExchange and the generosity of their hosts.
Discover HomeExchangeWhat did you appreciate most about the home you stayed in?
The home was secluded on a five acre lot surrounded by lush vegetation. We were on a hill and had a gorgeous view of the ocean from their deck.
What did you appreciate most about your exchange partner?
Great communication. The house was beautifully decorated and felt like a home. They were such gracious hosts, they offered to extend our stay and they even lended us their car to drive around the island free of charge.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
We got to snorkel at Buck Island National Reef Monument.
Travel with HomeExchangeWhat is one of your best memories or experiences from a home exchange?
We've had experiences with great hosts so far. Great way for us to save and still travel the world.
What would you say to your friends and family who are considering HomeExchange?
I think HomeExchange works way better than airbnb. You'll have to put in extra work to get everything scheduled but once you connect with an awesome host you won't regret your experience!
What tips and tricks would you give to new HomeExchangers?
Be flexible and open to changing/adjusting your plans to accommodate a guest or host. Kindness and sharing are the main principles behind HomeExchange after all. As guests, we always clean up and leave the home the way we found it since most people don't have a cleaning service.
