Alex tells us about his trip to Goteborg and Stockholm in Sweden.
How did you find your exchange?
I contacted a member from the HomeExchange community.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
We love the idea of experiencing a local's point of view: their way of living, their recommendations, their favorite places. They had lovely homes that fitted exactly our interests and plans.
How was your arrival at the home?
We met our host twice. They gave us lots of tips and helped us to make the most of our experience. They explained everything: where the laundry place was, where to buy things, what to do. They let us use their bikes and their car so it was great for exploring the surroundings too!
What did you see or do during your exchange?
Well, in Goteborg there are lots of things to do. The city itself is quite small but it's perfect to relax. We went to a free public swimming pool and sauna, when to the archipelagos with the bikes, went hiking and explored a famous Summer town by car. It was great! In Stockholm it rained a lot so we just visited the city when possible.
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
In Goteborg we decided to go to the Amusement park. We carried the bikes and went from the apartment and parked there (a very local thing to do) and we had a wonderful day!
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
It can be risky, of course, and you have to be sure about leaving your home to someone else. It's difficult at first. We had a bad experience with our first guests in June and now we are in September and about to solve it finally with the Membership guarantees. We both love traveling and it's the best way to do it.
