My HomeExchange Story: Cape Town, South Africa
Alex and Anna tell us about their exchange to Cape Town, South Africa.
How did you find your exchange?
We contacted a member from the HomeExchange community.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
To be honest we found cheap flights and since there's good weather in Cape Town in November, we decided to go. We were also very curious! It's a place we'd never have thought of visiting... and that's why we like HomeExchange.
How was your arrival at the home?
We met our hosts when we arrived. They were very nice. They were in a bit of a rush, but we were still lucky enough to chat with them for a little. They gave us amazing tips! Added bonus, they let us keep our rental car in the garage to keep it safe. :)
What did you see or do during your exchange?
Lots of things! Robben Island, Bo Kaap, a wine State. The most amazing thing of all: Cape peninsula! We saw many sea lions and penguins on the beach. The smell was a little unpleasnt though. hahaha
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
Lovely views from our apartment. The view from Lion's head is a must!!! It's not too difficult to climb and the landscape is incredible. People in South Africa are very nice in general, we'd love to return.
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
It seems (and it can be) very risky to host people in your home and we've been unlucky to have two bad experiences in a year, but despite the bad we've had so many good experiences! Moments that we could have never imagined without doing a home exchange...and this makes it totally worth it!
