Pascal on a home exchange in Vienna, Austria.
How did you find your exchange?
I contacted a member from the HomeExchange community.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
I saw a very beautiful house in Christine's photos and decided to organize an exchange. It seemed close to the center although it turned out to be a little further, but everything went well. Our host was also very kind and we asked her a lot of questions. Thank you!
How was your arrival at the home?
We arrived in Vienna late at night, around 10pm. We toured the city before going home as it was kind of slow and far to get home and out again. I had no chance to meet the hostess, but she had left us the keys, landmark map, and we had easy access to the house. It was really lovely, bright, big, warm, and clean. The owner had left us some handwritten notes with different places we could visit in the city, like museums, as well as a map to find everything. Very helpful!
What did you see or do during your exchange?
On the first day we arrived in town, we just took a few walks in the center and ate something outside. The next day we started early in the center. We then visited the Natural History Museum, which definitely deserves a stop. In the evening we passed by the Town Hall, which at night is an ice rink (the square in front of it) and is truly beautiful. The next day we visited Beloise. The cold was so heavy that we didn't enjoy it, but it is one of the must-see attractions in Vienna. Later we toured the city center for food and ended up for a beer at a magnificent brewery. There was music and it's definitely worth seeing. It is small but wonderful.
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
Vienna is a very beautiful city to visit in the winter. There are some downsides, but it's still a good time to visit. The music museum is something that is definitely worth a visit. That is, it's a really cool place to have a coffee and take a stroll, shop and eat. In the central market, there are lots of shops with great items that you can't even imagine.
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
It's the best way to travel. I've been traveling with home exchange for so many years. I don't think HomeExchange has an equal. I highly recommend it. Try it for yourself and you'll see how great it is!
