Dana tells us about her recent trip to England during Summer 2019.
How did you find your exchange?
I contacted a member from the HomeExchange community.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
I wanted to have a holiday in England. First stop was Southampton (also a Home Exchange) and then London. Having been previously to London during Xmas time I also wanted to see it during summer.
How was your arrival at the home?
I did not meet my host but she was very responsive and reliable before and throughout the stay. She sent me an email with checkin instructions and general info about the area and the flat. This was all very useful and I took on her advice.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
I walked around the area a lot, since the flat is very central, so I saw all the main attractions. Following my host's advice I visited the former electric plant, BatterSea, now transformed into an event venue and even found a seafood festival happening there. I went to a lot of museums (Victoria and Albert, Museum of Science, etc.), I met with friends, checked the famous Portobello Road Market and spent a lot of time in London's great parks, as the weather was superb.
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
My favorite memory was the evening i spent at the Victoria and Albert Museum, each Friday they keep the museum open until 10 pm and they bring in a DJ and a bar. There was a very nice vibe to the whole event and the museum is absolutely spectacular, teaches us so much on human history and mentality.
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
Home Exchange is one of the best discoveries I ever made!
