Myriam shares her close to home, home exchange story to Monts Valins.
How did you find your exchange?
I contacted the other member in search of an exchange.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
Myrianne and Steve's cottage is located in the Monts Valins, the perfect place to go play in the snow. I was raised in nearby Chicoutimi and I used to cross-country ski in this area when I was a kid. Their cottage looked comfortable and had everything we needed for our week holiday.
How was your arrival at the home?
Myrianne and Steve were there to host us when we arrived. We met and chatted for a while. We were amazed to hear that we could put our skis on from their cottage and reach the slopes in a minute and get back home on our skis as well! They told us about the area, recommended a restaurant in a yurt nearby.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
We skied of course, this is heaven for skiers! The natural snow at Monts Valins is awesome and plentiful! The slopes offer a diverse range of difficulty, which was perfect for us. The view over there is amazing!
We also took time to chill in the cottage, looking at the snow falling by the large window, reading comfortably in the large couch. We cooked and ate at home most of the time. The large kitchen had everything we needed and more!
We also spent a day in Chicoutimi and visited family.
We had wonderful weather, sunny and warm days, just what we needed for great days outdoors.
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
The pleasure to get out of the house with our skis on and go down to the ski station in a minute was really awesome!
The long evenings spent chilling on the couch by the fire with a good book was the definition of relaxation.
Rediscover Chicoutimi, the town where I grew up, and let the memories come back was moving. Visit my uncle and his wife, whom I haven't seen for years, was very pleasant.
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
Home exchange gives you access to houses and people all over the world! It's easy and it works. Our dozens of experiences with it have always been excellent. It is a perfect way to travel, meet great people with the sense of hospitality and who like to share.
