Meet HomeExchange member Klara! This July, Klara traveled to Vir, Croatia. Her family lives far from the sea, so a relaxing vacation by the Mediterranean is Klara's dream come true. Her host's home was steps from the beach, so Klara and her family could have plenty of time relaxing and getting some sun.
Klara said that home exchanging is "an excellent possibility for individuals and families who like to get to know people from other countries, and who wish to spend their holiday like locals do." She answered some of our questions about her summer home swap.
Klara, tell us about your arrival.
Igor's mother offered us a really warm welcome, with figs and wine. Next day we met all the nice family. They recommended us beaches and cities to visit, like Zadar and Nin. The house was very nice and clean, and, most important, very cool with the air conditioner.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
We visited the center of Vir the first day. Then, we discovered the area of the apartment, which is a nice, quiet neighbourhood, all surrounded by the sea.
Then we spent a day in Zadar, a historical city with a center on a peninsula, and listened to the magic sounds of the sea organ there. We also went to Nin, one of the oldest cities of Croatia.
What is your favorite memory from your exchange?
Our favourite memory is the last day when our host organized a birthday party for my daughter. He prepared delicious grilled sea food for us, which we really have rare occasion to eat.
Besides that, the best thing was that all the members of our families could meet and talk and make friendship. I think we will always remember this evening.
