Robert traveled to Paris for Men's Fashion Week and spent 11 days in the city with HomeExchange. Robert, who has been on eight house swaps, shares his experience of this unforgettable home swap.
What was it that attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
The apartment we chose was very convenient to where our Fashion Week activities were. The apartment had very attractive features, including a huge lower level stone vaulted ceiling. In addition to giving us lots of room to spread out, the room was naturally temperature controlled but with a traditional structure, and we stayed very comfy.
What happened when you arrived at this house swap?
We did not meet the host since he was already away on a business trip, but he had the concierge and a friend if needed to be there to make sure we had no problems getting to the property. The host also left helpful notes to help us to navigate the new location.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
In addition to the Fashion Week showroom duties, we saw great exhibits at Centre Pompidou and Musée d'Orsay, roamed the beautiful streets of the nearby upper and lower Marais. And of course ate and ate and ate!
What is your favorite memory from your home exchange?
We had perfect weather most of the time. My favorite memories are simply enjoying the overwhelming beauty of Paris at every turning of a corner. Paris is perfect for strolling for this reason. The city is truly one of inexhaustible aesthetic pleasures!
How would you describe HomeExchange to your family and friends?
I would say it is the kind of experience that I would like to redo again and again.
