1. Where did you go on home exchange?
Martinique, France
2. How did you choose your destination and home exchange?
We chose our destination for the beauty, history and location. We wanted to go somewhere tropical.
3. What was the conversation like with your host?
Beatrice was very congenial and responsive. We developed a good report. She gave me all the information I needed.
4. Your arrival: How was the house? Did you meet your host? Did they give you any gifts or tips for visiting the area?
When we arrived in Martinique we were greeted at the airport by our host, Guy. He was very friendly and warm. He took us to the home where we met his lovely wife, Beatrice. We loved the home. It was so cute and the garden was beautiful! I loved sitting on the patio and looking at all the flowers and watching hummingbirds coming to feed. They had a nice hammock on the patio too. They gave us all the assistance we needed and even took us around to some sights. We became close friends.
5. How did exchanging your home influence your vacation, compared to a traditional vacation rental?
This was the best exchange we have ever taken. We enjoyed immersing in the culture. Our hosts were fantastic! One of the photos shows me and Beatrice on the beach. They introduced us to their friends. They even made sushi for us.
6. Tell us what you saw during your trip.
Our trip was very relaxing and stimulating. We had a nice time visiting a beautiful botanic garden, several beautiful beaches, taking a boating excursion and visiting museums. The photo of the lily pond is from the botanic garden. One of the museums I was excited to visit was La Pagerie; the birthplace and home of Empress Josephine.
Bonus Question: What is the best memory from your trip?
The best memory is visiting and laughing with our hosts on their patio over dinner.
